A strategy session is a way of building an on-the-spot communications strategy. It’s a great option for clients who have a specific problem, challenge and/or immediate goal in mind. It’s one-part discussion, and one-part plan building. A session, although only one-hour in length, is more than just a meeting, it’s a combination of three distinct tasks:
- Prior to the meeting, clients are asked to complete a questionnaire
- During the meeting, recommendations and actions are discussed
- After the meeting, a short wrap up guide is shared.

Content strategy is almost operational. It’s about what you produce, how you produce it, what channels you may use, and typically is only focused on one communications goal.
Communications strategy is the big picture. It connects back to your business goals, identifies your core audiences, and determines the best ways to connect, sell, or engage with your audiences to reach those goals. It sets the tone, by clarifying your value proposition and solidifying the messaging used to share your value with the world. From marketing to fundraising to resolving reputational crises, communications strategy is your guide for everything that you do to reach your audience.

Social media is a tactic used to carry out a specific strategy and achieve a particular goal. I can help you develop your strategy, understand who you want to reach, what tools (like social media) to use, and develop the messaging that guides all your social media content. To be effective, social media community management requires a significant time and resources commitment, which CS does not provide outside of an ongoing retainer or bigger project.
