Sharlyn Carrington, MCM, is a highly experienced creative communications strategist, diversity advocate, consultant, speaker, and facilitator. With over 16 years in both public and private sectors, she has a proven track record of delivering impactful results.
Throughout her career, Sharlyn has masterfully managed integrated PR and marketing campaigns, engaged key audiences, and provided strategic counsel to executives, political leaders, and business owners. Her public sector achievements include advising more than 12 cabinet ministers and two premiers, as well as developing vital programs for underrepresented and vulnerable populations.
In her consultancy, Sharlyn empowers resource-limited organizations across diverse sectors, including postsecondary education, mental health, real estate, and technology, with strategies to strengthen brands, manage reputations, and foster trusting dialogue.
A passionate advocate for inclusion, Sharlyn co-founded the Anti-Racism in Public Relations Conference (2021), attracting over 600 communicators to address crucial issues. Her master’s research and lived experience contribute to impactful conversations on diversity in the field and she has been featured on diversity podcasts and in publications related to this work.
A seasoned project manager and a member of the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion, Sharlyn holds a master’s in communications management from McMaster University. She also holds a graduate certificate in public relations from Humber College, a certificate in leadership and inclusion from Centennial College, and practical certificates in AI tools JasperAI, ChatGPT, DALL-E and MidJourney.
